Snickerdoodles

Have all ingredients at room temperature before mixing together

bullet½ cup butter or margarine
bullet2 tsp cream of tartar
bullet½ cup Crisco
bullet1 tsp. baking soda
bullet1 ½ cups sugar
bullet¼ tsp. salt
bullet2 eggs (I use medium)
bullet2 Tblsps. sugar
bullet1 tsp. vanilla
bullet1 tsp. ground cinnamon
bullet2  2/3 cups sifted flour
bulletBeat butter and crisco until light; add 1 ½ cup sugar and beat until fluffy
bulletBeat in eggs and vanilla
bulletSift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; add to beaten mixture above
bulletCombine 2 Tblsps sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl
bulletShape dough in small balls, about 1", and roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture
bulletPlace 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet
bulletBake in hot oven 400º for 8 to 10 minutes (I usually bake 9 minutes)
bulletCookies flatten during baking
bulletRemove cookies and cool on racks.
bulletMakes about 6 dozen

Comment:  I was brought up on these back in the 40's and 50's, and I brought my kids up on them back in the 70's, 80's & 90's.  They are a very good soft sugar cookie (Randy & Kathy Ballard love em!)
