Acts 2:37-41

Acts 2:37 (NKJV) Now when they heard [this], they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?"

Acts 2:37 (KJS) Now when they heard [this], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?

Acts 2:37 (NIV) When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

38 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

38 (KJS) Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

40 (NKJV) And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation."

41 (NKJV) Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added [to] [them].

Acts 8:5-12

7 (NKJV) For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.

9 (NASB) Now there was a certain man named Simon, who formerly was practicing magic in the city, and astonishing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great;

9 (NIV) Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great,

10 (NKJV) to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the great power of God."

10 (KJS) To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

11 (NKJV) And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.

11 (KJS) And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

Acts 8:26--39

Acts 8:26 (NKJV) Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert.

Acts 8:26 (KJS) And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

Acts 8:26 (RSV) But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is a desert road.

Acts 8:26 (NASB) But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, "Arise and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert [road].)

Acts 8:26 (NIV) Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road--the desert road--that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza."

27 (NKJV) So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,

27 (NASB) And he arose and went; and behold, there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship.

27 (NIV) So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian {[27] That is, from the upper Nile region}eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship,

28 (NKJV) was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.

28 (KJS) Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

28 (RSV) and was returning; seated in his chariot, he was reading the prophet Isaiah.

29 (NKJV) Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go near and overtake this chariot."

30 (NKJV) So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

30 (KJS) And Philip ran thither to [him], and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

30 (RSV) So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

30 (NASB) And when Philip had run up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

30 (NIV) Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked.

31 (NKJV) And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

31 (KJS) And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

31 (RSV) And he said, "How can I, unless some one guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

32 (NKJV) The place in the Scripture which he read was this: "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer [is] silent, So He opened not His mouth.

32 (NIV) The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

33 (NKJV) In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth."

33 (KJS) In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 (NKJV) So the eunuch answered Philip and said, "I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?"

34 (KJS) And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

34 (RSV) And the eunuch said to Philip, "About whom, pray, does the prophet say this, about himself or about some one else?"

34 (NASB) And the eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please [tell me], of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself, or of someone else?"

34 (NIV) The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?"

35 (NKJV) Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.

35 (KJS) Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 (NIV) As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?"

37 (NKJV) Then Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

37 (KJS) And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Acts 9:17-18

Acts 9:17 (NKJV) And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

Acts 9:17 (NASB) And Ananias departed and entered the house, and after laying his hands on him said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

Acts 9:17 (NIV) Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord--Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here--has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit."

18 (NKJV) Immediately there fell from his eyes [something] like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.

Acts 16:14-15

Acts 16:14 (NKJV) Now a certain woman named Lydia heard [us]. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.

Acts 16:14 (KJS) And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard [us]: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

Acts 16:14 (RSV) One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyati'ra, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to give heed to what was said by Paul.

Acts 16:14 (NASB) And a certain woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.

Acts 16:14 (NIV) One of those listening was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message.

15 (NKJV) And when she and her household were baptized, she begged [us], saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." So she persuaded us.

15 (KJS) And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought [us], saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide [there]. And she constrained us.

15 (RSV) And when she was baptized, with her household, she besought us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

15 (NASB) And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

15 (NIV) When she and the members of her household were baptized, she invited us to her home. "If you consider me a believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my house." And she persuaded us.

Acts 16: 25-34

Acts 16:25 (NKJV) But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.

27 (NKJV) And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself.

27 (KJS) And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

28 (NKJV) But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, "Do yourself no harm, for we are all here."
